A research study presented to S4C bosses that provides a strategy to retain 5-8 year old Welsh speaking audience members for S4C. Includes historical and literary background research, and a proposed research methodology.

Media scandals have always been prominent in the media and political landscape and are defined by concealed actions of “morally discreditable” (Thompson, 2000) public figures becoming public knowledge, in particular in the last decade with the increased use of social media.

Is political lobbying a corruption of democracy in theory and/or practice?

Using examples such as the Owen Paterson scandal and the opposing elitism vs pluralism debate, I will demonstrate how lobbyists strategically fund specific governments or individuals, and how political parties allow this as a means of financial aid for themselves.

What is the young LGBTQ audience’s perception of queer programming?

This research project investigates young LGBTQ perceptions of queer reality programmes such as ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and ‘Queer Eye’ and uses the findings to make improvements to tackle the rise of the young LGBTQ resistant audience in queer programming.

Using Laura Mulvey’s theory of the male gaze to analyse the representations of women in romantic comedy films over time

Over many decades there has been an evolution of the representations of young women in romantic films. Whilst some scholars say that gender stereotyping has improved overtime, the dominant feminist reading from Laura Mulvey suggests that “to-be-looked-at-ness” is still a current theme in female characters in Hollywood films.
